Changing Your Hosting Account Password (FTP Password) and Username

If necessary, you can use the Control Panel in your hosting account to change the password for your hosting account. This is the password you use to upload files to your hosting account.

To Change Your Hosting Account Password

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. From the Settings section, click FTP Users
  5. Click Actions next to the username you want to update, and then select Change Password.
  6. Enter and confirm your new password, and then click Update.

    NOTE: We recommend reading Generating a Strong Password before choosing your new password.

To Change Your Hosting Account Username

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. From the Settings section, click FTP Users
  5. Click Actions next to the username you want to update, and then select Change Username.
  6. Enter the new username, and then click OK.

    NOTE: You can only change the primary FTP username.
