Calling all drop-shippers!!! We’re looking for constructive suggestions on what you would like to see in a drop-shipping feature. The following features are inferred from previous forum drop-ship threads:
- Add ability to supply a “warehouse” zip code on each product that is drop-shipped when calculating shipping rates.
- When orders are invoiced, email the “warehouse” the list of products and quantities that they are to supply. (Implies an email address will need to be stored for that warehouse.)
We have many other ideas, but would rather get raw feed-back from the people who will be using it.
This is your golden opportunity to chime in… So let’s have it!
Thanks, DavidB

The warehouse ‘zip code’ needs to be allowed to be international.
The other major restriction that has me currently looking for an alternative shopping cart package is the ability for the customer to select their own currency..much like I did on your own site when I made my purchases at GoDaddy. I am based in Australia, most of my products ship from Asia, and my customers are most certainly not limited to the USA.
Whatever the case, being able to have shipping calculated accurately will be a great improvement, thank you.
I want to learn more about drop shipping. As in, where do you find a warehouse or two, and how to connect them to my item list site?
For this to work properly for us, when dealing with distributors, I’m guessing you would need to create some kind of real-time interface (EDI?) that would allow us, with the distributors permission, to connect our Quick Shopping Cart to their real-time inventory. That would be a HUGE advantage you could provide us GoDaddy customers. If this already exists, please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
I have several warehouses for the same product, so I would have multiple warehouse zip codes for the same product. When a customer makes a purchase, I use the warehouse closest to the customer to cut down on shipping costs. I would like to see a feature that keys off of the customer’s shipping address, chooses the closest warehouse, then sends the “items to be shipped” email.
Perhaps the automated “warehouse email” could include a .iif file as an attachment that could be downloaded by the warehouse and imported directly into quickbooks as an invoice that would be billed to the web merchant, and shipped to the website customer. Shipping could then be done easily through quickbook’s automated shipping agent or a program like shiprush.
Even though I have checked not to send an email to the customer when I check orders as shipped I would still like to be able to go back, edit the shipping information to include tracking numbers, etc., and then resend the customer and email. Currently you can’t resend an email if you have the chosen not to have an email automatically sent. Thanks, Steve
I would like to see a “push to” or “push from” tool from to be able to put products in easier.
We need to have this where we could pick different options per manufacturer/supplier. If we could do this under shipping/custom and do all for one manufacturer in one swoop that would be great. We need the option of having seperate shipping for each manufacturer. PLEASE DO THIS OPTION SOON. THIS IS DRIVING US CRAZY!!!!!
I would like to see two things. One, the ability to have multiple SKU# for each product as all distrubitors seem to assign their own. Second a way to add and customize the QSC Exproted Invoice in MS Excel. I have made my own Excel spreadsheet that I copy the info from the QSC Sheet to create an auto filled PO for the distributer and a paid invoice/packing slip he places into each shipment for me. Works perfectly.
This is a very in depth topic and 250 characters is insufficient to cover everything. You may email me if you would like to discuss this in detail. My entire business is done through drop shipping and I would be happy to share my Go Daddy experience with you and what changes I would like to see.
is there any date when some of this will be available?

For calculating shipping from a supplier having the ability to add a drop shipping surcharge to the shipping as a handling cost would be helpful. As and example; One of my suppliers charges a flat $5 fee in addition to the actual shipping cost. I may not pass that on the customer for larger orders.
I would like to have the ability to bulk upload product data from an excel spreadsheet .xls or csv file.
I would like an ability to turn off automatic shipping calculation for my customers due to a need to utilize the most cost effective solution on a case by case basis.
All my orders drop ship. So I think i am knowledgeable in this area.
-Like idea to auto-email warehouses/manufacturers. (Only after invoice stage, to assure payment)
-Auto-Email should include invoice for packing. (only the items from said manufacturer)
-Auto email should include read receipt, to insure warehouse opens order.
-Expand QSC by adding manufacturer contacts, e.g. ACME, email@acme.com, 987-654-3210, John Smith.
-Ability to turn on/off auto ship calculations.
GREAT IDEAS GreekStore! I was going to post most of those! I would like to add ability for the drop-shipper to be able directly alert the customer their items have been shipped…. or at least have the reply-to address on the email that automatically goes to the warehouse be my email so they can respond when they ship.
Also, I think it was mentioned but the handling fee should be adjustable per product – not the same flat fee for all products on the site.
I would like the following abilities to be included in drop ship options:
1. Designate the shipping carrier that the shipper uses.
2. Designate the zip code being shipped from.
3. Once invoice is marked as paid, create a purchase order (just for the drop ship items) that is sent to the shipper by email, with read receipt.
3. Create a packing slip without prices to be provided to drop shipper for inclusion in package.
I really hope that this becomes reality. With the economy, more and more companies are agreeing to drop ship.
great suggestions here. We generally do not dropship (unless we’re in a pinch) but we are looking to set up a warehouse out west to cut down on shipping costs for our west coast customers.
the ability to assign multiple shipping points for certain products (on a case-by-case basis, NOT for the entire cart, since we will not be stocking all items out west) would help.
it would also help if QSC automatically selected the ship-from point closest to the customer’s zip code (by default, seller could disable this if they wish).
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Quick Shopping Cart® now lets you use drop shipping to fill your orders. Check out this Blog post for more information!
