A larger number of allowed relays might be helpful on an occasional basis, but it would be more helpful to me to have the number of relays used displayed in Webmail, perhaps near or adjacent to the storage usage. It would also be helpful to be able to see the IP address where those relays originated, to diagnose instances where either the email account or the client computer might have been compromised.
My company needs 1000 per day now, so an increase to that quantity would suit us well. In particular though, I agree wholeheartedly with dcwest’s suggestion about us seeing the originating IPs for the relays. It will help us rein in any spam and keep us (and likely other Godaddy customers) from getting blacklisted.
SMT Relay limit of 250 per day is way too low. I signed up for the Deluxe plan thinking this would match my requirement for my small business, only after signing up I got to know about the limit (probably was hidden somewhere but not obviously visible). Although 250 oper day us generally OK, but there are times where I want to send out an email (seaons greeting, announcement of new products or services) to all my registered customers, that could easily reach 2000 to 5000.
Or another option would eb increase it e.g. to 5000 for all combines accounts for the “Unlimited” plan, then people could consider an upgrade.
Or, how about combining the 250 per account into 1250 for the whole 5 accounts (Deluxe plan). So all users can share.
We have an onsite server that is a transaction processor. All transactions generate an email back to the originator. Last week, on our busiest day, we hit out 250 relay limit. I purchased another 250 to get to 500, but I can see that sometime before the end of the year, we’ll be closing in on 500. I can understand why GoDaddy limits relays to prevent spammers from using their system, but there should be a process for legitimate business to exceed the upper limit. The price for relays is a little steep too. I guess we’ll have to build our own email server sooner than later.
250 is not enough, 500 would be great. We mainly use them to auto send verification emails to new comers to our site, we’re always afraid to pass the 250 limit and loose new customers.
250 is too low for someone doing lots of work and having to cc: people. Many of her cc:’s are to a coworker on vacation and a couple bosses. If relays within a company / domain didn’t count she would be fine. In the mean time the gal she’s covering for is using 0 relays this week and she’s going just over. So maybe using the reserve of others or an aggregate for the company / domain would take care of it.
I could occasionally use more. Even just changing it to 1750/week would help.
250 is way, too low. I run an online business with customers nearing 5000. Most days, 500 would be more than enough, but at least once a week I need to send an e-mail out to the entire list of contacts with information about the coming week.
I agree that 250 is too low. But I also see where GoDaddy has had problems playing with others, in the fact they routinely get BlackListed with other players. Most notably with Microsoft/Live.
I have a lead capture application that generates a notification email for each lead entered, the email going to the person responsible for following up the lead. I am concerned that as more companies start using my service I am going to regularly hit the 250 a day limit. Isn’t there a more intelligent way of preventing spammers than just putting a limit per day.
p.s. As noted by another contributor I too didn’t notice this limit until after I had purchased the delux hosting option. I think the 250/day is too low.
This number is too low. I think if you purchase an upgraded plan the relay numbers should be increase or let you use the total amount over multiple plans.
It’s been six months since you first asked this question – any plans for an increase. My organization has 100 members who participate in events. If I send 3 emails to my membership prior to an event, I’m over the limit.
250 is way too low! At least 500-1000 relays are needed. I have a work group with a little over 100 people that I sometimes need to email multiple times in a day. 2 emails and I’m out of business…
Our Small Biz just moved our email accounts to GoDaddy, 250 relay limit came as a surprise. Like the previous poster we occasionaly (twice a year maybe) send to our clients holiday greetings or special announcements. Maybe 1500 outbound in total.
A recommended solution here might be a token, where each email account gets say 10 tokens to use per year, and each token would give the account a limit of maybe 5000 relays for one day’s use.
Another solution I read in a previous post I like to vote for is to *combine* the email addresses 250 limit for pool usage. So if our GoDaddy Email account of 10 email addresses, currently we get 250 relays per address, pool these to be 2500 for the entire email account plan.
I think there should be customized outbound port facilities as hostgator.com and many more giving this type facilities.
By this facilities we can send infinite email and also we can keep history of
that email and Our subscriber will be instantly email also.
At least, 465 post should be opened in outbound
I agree – there needs to be a way to up the relays from the far too low amount of 250 per day.
Also I would like to see a response from GoDaddy here to all these good messages!
I work with nonprofits. communication is essential to stay in business. a limit of 250, though not needed every day, is just too low. how about a limit of 2000 per week? – at no extra charge! or a really cheap way to double the limit?
I’d like to have a limit of 1,000 relays before having to pay for more relays. 1,000 is what I get with my Time Warner Cable Roadrunner account. I think it would be a good number for small businesses to reach out to their customer base and for people who want to use their GoDaddy account to reach members in their community associations or non-profit members.
