Set Expiration on Links
Topic: Online Storage
Would you like the ability to set an expiration date on public links? If so, how would want to set the expiration: a pre-defined period of time, such as a week, month, etc., or specific date and time. Vote this idea up or down and leave a comment to tell us what you think.

I would like this feature very much; in fact I had suggested it before finding the idea here. A specific time and date would be more flexible but a predetermined period such as a week would be enough.
I think it could be a very good feature! Yesterday I bought 63 new domains with you, and if I could get the expiration-date-warning set to 1-month, it would be a nice help!
I have it with my start domain (registered ellswhere) and it works out great for me!
Cheers,
Marcus
Please do. This would be a very nice option. Make it easy to set and easy to change.
Yeah, this would be awesome to use!
Sounds smart.
Previous service I used for file sharing allowed a 14 day time limit to link expiration – arbitrary time limit would be very welcome.
Yes Please – A Preset Time 30, 60, 90 days, etc. would be perfect.
Ability to select or set a time limit for emailed or public links would be great.
I actually think BOTH would work well, but if I had to choose, a specific date/time would be great because I am sure not everyone will have specific periods that match – i.e. a week, month, etc. I for example sometimes only have mine last for one day.
I am assuming that we are talking about each user having the ability to set their own individual expiration dates on a per file basis rather than a generic value for all users.
Each user could have their default duration as a setting (similar to their onlinefilefolder username and subject line); then changing for each file would be just another selectable option like delete / rename etc. The default value for those who did not change the user-specific default could be set to one year – that would be longer than most links would be needed but would prevent ancient no longer required links from cluttering up the file servers.
Ideally, it would be nice to have the duration access history dependent, e.g. one month after the last time it was accessed, but that would require additional work behind the scenes. A fixed end date either by explicit date or by time relative to creation is a good compromise.
The ability to set expiration dates on links would be tremendous!
small control panel that the user can enter time/date the link goes live and active, and then same settings for expiration (auto pilot), then maybe a step forward and tell it to go to page 100 after expires.
Yes. I would like the ability to choose from some fixed time intervals such as 30, 60 or 90 days with the option of a specific date/time input if i needed something other than the standard options.
Yes, I’m surprised it’s not already available. Please do so, and go with the ‘expire by date option’ as it would be WAY more flexible.

I would like that as a page function. For example if I have a promotion on my radio show for the next 24 hours, I would like to preset a time for it to go live and then dark/switch to an oops you took to long feature page which I could then flip them to a shopping cart to buy the info.
Yes it will be greatfull. Also it will be very helpfull if the user can define the period of expiration
Yes, I’m all for placing expiration timeframe on links. That would give some comfort to those of who are handling multiple projects and forget to remove the share after the project is complete.
I have need of this feature. Set up like an autoresponder with a start and end date. Would be one less thing to worry about.
that would be good. it would be more flixable to everyone
I would like to know How to remove links on my web pages I NO longer wish to have on them—- Royaleaffair
Yes, yes, yes. It is not only a safety feature but it would be one less required post-it note.
I would like to know if a mega tag and key words the same?
Where do I place keywords?
I have called in many times, and asked to have control over the expiration of the links that are created for download. I have shared many ideas by way of phone and email over the numerous years as a GoDaddy client. I would like to share a few options:
1. Set Expiration date (any date). Meaning anytime in the future.
2. No Expiration
3. Change Password for the links whenever you like instead of removing the link, and recreating it.
4. Client section where we can add clients by email address and assign them a
special password. We then create folders for clients and grant them access to specific folders for download only, and have a report to know who logged in and downloaded the files. Number 4 would simply be awesome and my ultimate preference.
These are really important for us, since we have clients that purchase software products from us and want access to the links.
