Hello, Jason,
I was finally resolved this past week.
It had been occurring more with my wordpress install, in fact, than the joomla.
It seems that php was slow, pages timing out.
Disabilng FastCGI has resolved the problem.Thanks,

I can only guess that configuration of the FastCGI is not available on shared hosting, but a support technician has now disabled it for me. Load times can be slow on the WPinstall, but, I am NOT seeing more of the 500 errors. The technician said they were largely due from php timing out, and [...]

Where are you altering these FastCGI parameters?

Okay, I found in the CGI Admin page/interface thingy that FasCGI is enable. But it appears that was enabled when php5 was installed/configured, and I can’t find where to disable it.
