Date Submitted: 10/2/15

After creating your database, you can find its details, including its hostname, in your control panel.

To View Your Database's Details

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.

Click one of the following, based on the type of hosting you have. You can tell this by the second word in your hosting's description beneath your hosting account's domain name, e.g. Deluxe Web correlates to Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel).

Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. In the Databases section of the Hosting Control Panel, click MySQL or MSSQL depending on the database type for which you want the host name.
  3. From your list of databases, click Actions next to the database you want to use, and then click Details.

Your database's details displays including its username, host name, and a link to reset its password.

Linux (cPanel)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. Click MySQL Databases.

Your Database names, as well as your Users display.

cPanel hosting accounts host databases on the same server as your website; use the following to connect:

  • Applications on your website connect using localhost as the host name.
  • Remote database connections from your computer uses your hosting account's IP address as the host name (more info).

If you cannot log in to your database, reset one of the database's user's passwords by clicking the user's name you want to use, resetting the password, and then clicking Change Password.

Windows (Plesk)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  2. Click Databases.

Your database's details displays including its host name (Database server) and users.

Do not include the port following the IP address for your MySQL databases. For example, if your Database Server is 1.1.1.1:3306, use 1.1.1.1 as your database's hostname.

If you cannot log in to your database, reset one of the database's user's passwords by going to the Users tab. From there, click the user's name you want to use, reset the password, and then click OK.
